As a business owner or manager, what can I expect when I contact my regional DBTAC?

The centers offer several ways to assist businesses in meeting ADA standards and requirements. Some examples of services are highlighted below, but don’t hesitate to call your regional center if your question falls outside these examples. For more information on your obligations as an employer of 15 or more employees, see the section for employers.

Information and Technical Assistance

Typical questions include:

  • Must I make my business accessible to the public?
  • Isn’t accessibility expensive?
  • Are there financial incentives to create access?
  • How do I know what to do and where to start?

The DBTACs can provide:

  • Support via toll-free telephone number or e-mail.
  • Additional information via mail, Internet or fax.
  • Referrals to documents, organizations or consultants.
  • Assistance in both English and Spanish.

Training

ADA training is available on the following topics:

  • Readily achievable barrier removal.
  • Tax incentives.
  • Strategies for making services available.

Training can be provided:

  • As a Web-based program.

Publications
